Assistant Club Coordinator of Promotions

I am the Assistant Club Coordinator of Promotions for The Club. The Club is a student venue on campus at Texas A&M University-Commerce. I am responsible for driving attendance at The Club events and communicating the activities and happenings for The Club. This is accomplished through my various visions and marketing plans. Although I do not create the designs for our events, I manage the designers by providing direction and participate in brainstorming sessions that contribute to the final design.

Here is a brief description of the process I go through for an event for an artist performing at The Club. I begin by gathering materials on the artist, looking online for information about the artist or the type of music that he/she plays while also listening to some samples of their music. I then coordinate a meeting with the designer that I assign the job to and brainstorm ideas to help them work through any creative blocks they may have. After the designer comes up with the first draft for the design, I will provide recommendations on changes to enhance the design, whether it be a change in picture, wording, or a new direction for the design all together. Once I approve the second draft, I take it to one of the professional staff for their review and for the University approval. If any additional changes need to be made, I work with the designer to make sure that the design comes out exactly as I and The University require it. Once the design has been approved, I tell the designer what formats to convert it too.

We use different sizes and medias to reach the student body, but the main stream medias The Club uses are marquees, the digital signage package (Info Screens, Video Wall, and NTN/Buzztime ad's), 11x17 posters, 24x36 Club posters, 5x7 table-toppers(in The Club and the Cafeteria), Fountain Drink Sleeves, and Banners.

  • Marquees- 24x36 posters put on A-frames throughout campus.
  • Info Screens- televisions in the classrooms and buildings throughout the campus that cycle The Club's ads.
  • Video Wall- combination of 8 flat screen TVs that are connected and suspended in the main entrance of the student center.
  • NTN/Buzztime- 4- 47 in. flat screen TVs in The Club that play our advertisements every hour.
  • 11x17 posters- hung up on each of the cork-boards in every building on campus.
  • 24x36 Club posters- placed in a poster frame outside The Club in the hallway.
  • 5x7 table-toppers- double sided and placed on the tables in The Club and in the Cafeteria.
  • Fountain Drink Sleeves- advertisements that are placed on the fountain drinks which are sold in The Club.
  • Banners- suspended from the ceiling at the entrance of The Club.
In addition to the marketing and promotional activities to encourage and increase attendance, I also look for creative ideas to encourage The Club participation during events. For example, for The Club's Monday Night Football, I obtain jerseys, hats, and keychains for the two competing football teams and hold drawings before, during, and after half time for attendees to win these items. Student participation and fun is key to the success of The Club. Participation and attendance has increased and made The Club a successful gathering place for the student community.
